Emma Field X: the groundwork is laid!

Postby spotlope » Fri Oct 31, 2008 2:25 am

I've seen some rumblings lately from unhappy 'simmers who think we've abandoned Emma Field X. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Holger did the landscaping for the project last year, but I've been too busy with other projects to get to the airport grounds until now. Last week, I cleared off the trees from the location and began leveling, mowing, and paving. See the shots below for the current state of things. The modeling is next, and commences this coming week.

Christmas is coming fast, I hope you don't think "spare time" is going to feature in your life over the next couple of months!

Spare time? I think I read about that once in a novel...

There's abso-friggin-lutely no way Emma will be under anyone's Christmas tree, sorry to say. Too much work to do yet. I'll keep you guys apprised of the details as we go along. Stay tuned!

Looks very nice! This release will bring me back to simming no doubt. For time being, and in preparation of a drive format, I have removed FS9. But i'm sure missing those fly-ins. Looking very much forward to this.

It seems like Emma is or has lost quite a few people over time and needs some help. Fly =Ins help but leaves out those whom have other things planned or don't have TS headphones or mic to work with. The Plum Island Fly-In was my 2nd Fly-In but this time with TS and it made a Big difference,Indeed. So let's have more get togeathers flying on TS even without the prizes and timing. Just for fun flying is good. So start getting your get togethers together and post it. To help keep Emma's forum flying. :D

I have a question, which has been bantered about in other forums from time to time and never really addressed here as far as I know. . . .will Emma_X and the original Emma share in what would amount to overlapping scenery between FS9 and FSX? I know this has to have come up at some point in the planning stages and so I assume you already have an answer to this. . . .what I hope is that the answer will be in the affirmative. My reason for asking?

Multiplayer events are an almost inevitable offshoot of having Emma Field back again for the FSX crowd. If the Rwy's, taxiways, general layout of the two fields don't match, or even come close, then a large segment of the Emma population, namely the FS9 crowd (actually, it depends on who is trying to make the point, lol) will be left in the lurch. Imagine fly-ins where one group is on the rwy and the other is taking off from a field on the other side of a tree line. . .not very conducive to group participation when one group or the other is out on the back 40. I don't know at what point that decision has to be made, but I would like to hear from some of the talented folks working on the project and what, if anything, they can tell us about that concern.

Thanks!
